Most of us are familiar with Castor Oil as an internal laxative. Of more interest (!), however, are the external uses of this ancient oil. It has been in use by many cultures for thousands of
years as a folk medicine, being first record by the Egyptians as medicinal oil. Castor Oil contains an unusual chemical composition of a triglyceride of fatty acids with a high percentage of ricinoleic acid present - this is unique to castor oil. Applied to the skin it acts as a natural emollient, penetrating the surface layer of the skin. Soap made with castor oil is very moisturizing and has a dense, viscous lather.
